Actually the update is critical for XP, etc., but only
important for Vista, providing UAC is enabled and
not blindly authorized for each request. Also, a
firewall will reduce the risk.

What I found really interesting, is that it says in the
FAQ that users of the Windows 7 pre-beta should
also apply the update. Windows 7, that is!

FYI, there are no Windows 7 beta testers who frequent this Windows Vista newsgroup.

Yes it would, since XP Embedded is based on the same binaries as XP.
