I'm afraid you have l;ost me.
A properly configured Exchange Server can be accessed by MANY different
email clients - including "Windows Mail". You may not be able to go in and
tell it to connect to it *as* an exchange server, but IMAP or POP - if
configured on the Exchange Server - would allow for this.
I think we need a better explanation of what you have actually done...
When you say, "I purchased the exchange server..." <-- what do YOU mean?
You purchased the Exchange Server application, the Windows Server OS to run
it on, the hardware and then had it setup for you someplace (just for little
ol' you?) If so - I think you should really look into GMail, my friend. heh
