I don't have Wireless Microsoft Laptop 6000 mouse, but I will answer anyway.
Assuming this is the same Magnifier available in Vista, Ease of Access.
Once you decide to close Magnifier, right-click on the Magnifier on the
Taskbar and select Close or click on the Magnifier on the Taskbar to open
the Magnifier options window and File -> Close. Alt-X doesn't seem to work.
