Lately -I find that if I click on any MS Office 2003 program in the start
menu it doesn't load. I have to go to "All Programs" and "MS Office" and
the click on the program. These programs used to load okay directly from
the start menu.. Other programs load okay

Thanks for any help

Remove them from the Start Menu (right-click...), go into All
Programs, find them and re-pin them to the Start Menu.

It's just that simple.

I have about the same problem with part of Quicken 2009. If I launch it
from the Start Menu or Quick Launch, one portion will not work.
Launching from the desktop operation is normal. Don't know why yet, but
I am thinking it has something to do with the path. And the same thing
happens in Windows 7.

I forgot to add, if I run the shortcut from the Start Menu as
Administrator, the program starts normally, so you might try that to see
if it works.

How do you run as administrator ? My account is set up as administrator,
but I don't see any "run as adminstrator" option when I go run a program

Thanks
Jim

Yes I did it was not shown as an option - In any event, I have now
downloaded installed the Windows 7 beta and it works okay now. My initial
impression of W7 by the way is positive. The new taskbar is particularly
neat.

Thanks

Re: Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had this problem too - came up with suitable answer THAT WORKS!!!

1) Remove all Office 2007 items pinned to Start menu.

2) Open "Computer" click on "C:" drive and open "Program Files"

3) Scroll down to "Microsoft Office" and OPEN

4) Open the folder holding all the generic office items (on my syste
this is named "Office12" - this is the MS name version)

5) Find each Office program you need on the pinned menu - an
individually right-click and click "Pin to Start menu".
EXCEL will be the first one??? N.B. Only pin those with the MS Offic
symbol for that program, i.e. EXCEL = green document with an 'X' on
each should be an "Application" ENSURE U DON'T OPEN THE ONE WITH TH
COLOURFUL WINDOWS ICON - won't matter but you'll have to repeat th
correct process!
Make sure the following names are correct: (all capitals)
- EXCEL
- POWERPNT
- WINWORD

(they're the only ones I need!)

Then go to Start menu - click on each and check works. They do for me!

Then you can right-click each and Rename, to your hearts content!!!

They should each now open!

happiness all around???
