MS Photo Gallery Vista

hello,

I recently imported some pictures into MS Photo gallery, these 2
pictures had 800+ tags associated. Once I removed the pictures from
my library the tags in Photo Gallery remained.

Is there anyway to remove the Tags? Photo Gallery will only let me
remove one tag at a time!

What's up with that Microsoft? This seems so basic, is there a way to
clear the tags from Photo Gallery?

Thanks all!

Joe

It may be worth a try to rename or delete the
Photo Gallery database file.

Metadata that cannot be written back to the
image files will be written to the Photo Gallery
database. This database is named "Pictures.pd4"
and is found at the following location.

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
Windows Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd4

The file can also be found with an Advanced
Search for pd4.

Go to...Start / Search / Advanced Search.

Check the box..."Include non-indexed, hidden,
and system files" Enter pd4 in the Name field
and left click the Search button.

Hi, Joe. There is a great little tool from Microsoft called Microsoft Photo
Info.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...photoinfo.mspx

The above link will take you to a page at Microsoft that discusses the neat
features of Photo Info. Once you install it, you then go to Windows Explorer
and select any folder that contains photo images. You can then select any or
all of the photos and right click to bring up the Context Menu. You will see
Photo Info. Click it. A window opens up that allows you to do all kinds of
things, including mass deletion of metadata. Hope this helps ... vanilla

Oops ... meant to mention in previous post that the Photo Info tool works in
Vista as well as XP. The link indicates XP, but Photo Info work great in
Vista as well ... not sure if it is included with Vista by default or if you
still need to download it. Hope it will do what you need ... vanilla

Any succes Joe ?

Me stay away from Vista, Photo Gallery and PhotoInfo.

Better use another application that doesn't change any other metadata.
