MS Security Update Backups - Okay to Remove??

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro with the latest MS
Security Updates installed. My computer is operating without any
difficulty. After using the Dougs XP Remove Hotfix Backup removal applet
this morning, I noticed that there are still four backups listed under the
Windows folder. They are as following:

$MS131Uninstall_KB893803v2$
$NtUninstallKB917734_WMP9$
$NtUninstallKB925398_WMP64$
$NtUninstallKB936782_WMP9$

Would it be safe for me to manually delete the above list of four entries
from the Windows folder?

Also listed in the Add/Remove, Control Panel, are the following:

Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803)
Security Update for Windows Media Player 9 (KB917734)
Security Update for Windows Media Player 6.4 (KB925398)
Security Update for Windows Media Player 9 (KB936782)

I assume that the above list of four entries in Add/Remove, the Control
Panel, are the actual updates and therefore should not be deleted. Is this
a correct assumption? Thanks for any help, Sam.

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ which
reside in C:\windows (hidden folders) are Window Hot Fix Update folders/files) can be
safely deleted (providing you never wish to uninstall the updates). I would recommend
leaving these folders for a period of at least a month to make sure the update is working
correctly.

These updates can be deleted individually or in multiples. To find out more about the
update/s go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=XXXXXX
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number not including the "Q" or "KB"

Once you have deleted the uninstall folders/files, then go to Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs. Select the matching Windows Hotfix Title relating the update folder/file you
have just deleted and select remove. You will get a Windows error. This is because you
have deleted the uninstall folder/files. Just choose OK and the entry will be deleted from
the Add/Remove Programs Listing.

Thanks very much for your reply. Will remove the four uninstall entries in
the windows folder. However, I am still somewhat confused about the four
similar entries in the Add/Remove, Control Panel that I listed in my
original posting (listed below) - Is it safe to remove these listings since
they don't appear to be "Window Hot Fix Update folders/files"???

I want to make sure that I don't have a misunderstanding on my part and
remove valid security updates. Sorry for the newbie questions. Thanks
again for your help, Sam.
