MS Update Fails

I get the error prompt that Update cannot install Windows Installer 3.1 and
Intell Trnsfer Svc 2.0. I get no clues as to where to go next. Actually I
am trying to get SP2 reinstalled after a crash and a Windows repair which has
left me at SP1. Any suggestions?

First, go to Start > Run > type in

net stop wuauserv

Click OK or press Enter
Show hidden files, folders, and system files:

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistibution
Open Software Distribution and delete ALL contents of it
The subfolders and software controls will be recreated when you
install the latest version of the Windows Update Agent.

NOTE: This will delete the update history shown on WU/MU
Since the system has run a Repair operation, all subsequent updates
after SP1 need to be applied. Deleting the update history is
inconsequential in this case

Back to Start > Run > type in

net start wuauserv

Click OK or press Enter

Download and SAVE Windows Update Agent from here:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe

After the download is finished close the browser and any other open program
Now run WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
IF a message appears stating that the Update Agent is already installed,
then go to Start > Run > click the Browse button

Navigate to where WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe was saved and click once
on it
Click the Open button
In the Open: line, click once on WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
It should now be highlighted in blue
Click once after the last quotation mark "
Push the Space Bar on the keyboard and enter /wuforce
The entry should now look like this

"C:\<locationoffile>\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce

Note the space after the last quotation mark and the /

Restart the system

Download and save KB927891:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Restart the system once more

Now try to access Windows Updates and see if the needed updates can be
installed.

I tried the suggested solution, but it failed. At the step where it called
to navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution, I kept getting sent to My
Documents rather than the Windows folder, and therefore could not delete
whatever was in that folder.
