after using works word processing to construct a Resume and coverletter,
once sent as an email attachment, the recipents could not open them.
They had XP systems and I had the same problem when sending to a
computer on the network. Do I have to have a converter system (works to
Excel) or something of that type.

It doesn't matter which version of Windows you are using, or the guy
receiving the document is using. Whether they can read your Works
document depends on the Office software they have installed.

By default, Works saves documents in its own format, which cannot be
read by Microsoft Office (eg Word).

You can open the document in Works, and then select the option to save
it in a Word-compatible format; see here for more info:

http://www.microsoft.com/products/wo...ktogether.mspx

Then resend it to your recipient.

Hope this helps,

Andrew

Hi,

What file format are you saving them in? Make sure to save as a .doc (Word
format) and not any other if you want compatibility with other document
programs.

In addition to the other suggestions: try saving the document in PDF
format. Everyone can read PDFs. (that's actually very close to the truth.)

Here's one way: Look for CutePDF; it's free. It installs as a printer. When
you want to make a document portable, print it, choose the CutePDF printer,
and save the file in a convenient place with a convenient name.

There are other programs like that; that is just the one I happen to use.
