Can anyone tell me how to get these to show up in Windows Update? Shouldn't
they be listed as Critical updates since you issued them as "Security"
patches? These updates don't appear in the available updates in my SUS
server either. Please advise.

Regards,

John

John,

You don't mention what your OS is?

John,

You do not have Automatic Updates set to run do you? This would perform the
update without you knowing it.

No, none of my servers have automatic updates enabled in any way.

I tried Windows Update from one of our W2K3 servers and found MS04-030 and
035 (036 already applied). This was using V4 of Windows Update. I know that
V5 is for XP. Which version were you using?

Chris,

Thank you for checking. We use v4. We have over a dozen servers that this
same issue is on. As I mentioned in my original post, our SUS server
doesn't have any of these updates in it's pool of available updates.
Someone else posted on 12 October that MS04-030 didn't show up so I guess
this is a hit or miss problem.

Hopefully someone at Microsoft will weigh in on this...

Regards,

John

John,

I don't know if we have SUS, I'm just a DBA here. Sorry I cannot help you
with that one. I had previously seen problems with V5 of Windows Update so
that's why I asked. I am not sure if you can get V5 other than on XP.

Good luck

Chris
