After installing SP4, MSDOS based programs do not start. The following MSG
appears: "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is npt suitable for
runnuing MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows application."

Any Idea how to fix above matter?

I am running a similar setup as you and I have not had any problems running
dos apps.
How are you launching the programs?
Do you do "Start - Run - cmd"? Or do you launch them from an msdos icon
(PIF)?
I would suggest getting command prompt from within windows and then trying
to run them the "old fashoned" way throu dos. If that works, try re-making
the PIF icons.

JIJO
I got the same problem since last october (download of updates KB841533,
840987, 841356); finally I fixed the problem moving autoexec.NT to the
system32 as you advised (the config.NT has been replaced by the same file but
without any harm). Thanks a lot. Great ! (I got some very important software
running in DOS)
Microsoft should solve this problem !!! HOw they dare replacing such
important files without noticing it ...

Just came across same problem but SP4 was installed over 4 months ago. Guess
maybe "Updates" moved files to repair folder.

Thanks and have a great New Year!
