msg once was net send

Ok, I know that C:>msg is used in vista instead of net send as in XP. I
can send myself a message using msg but can't send it my workgrouped
computers. Has anyone had any success using msg in a vista and xp
mixed workgroup? Messenger services are on in the XP machine already.
