I have the latest version even though but I have this erro

Your right there is a global problem with the new update!!... you can sign
in using other 3rd party programmes like trillian or eBuddy or even the old
windows messenger.

This was not helpful to me because I have had this error for a week now, I
had ever changing errorsfor 2 days then this one for a week.
