MSN mail comes with the MSN browser, either from a CD or downloaded. It has
it's own email program and, while email "passes through" Hotmail before it
gets to the MSN email program, it is quite different than Hotmail. Mostly,
what I like about it is the ease in sending photos. Compare it to AOL
(without AOL's "yuckiness"). I also use the MSN browser for the times that I
need dial-up (up in the cabin, electricity goes out, etc).
I've had MSN since Window 98 and its email has alway been set as the
default, i.e., no matter what browser I use, it comes up when I want to send
a link.
All this being said, if I'm using the MSN browser and want to send a link,
MSN mail comes up. Maybe what I should do is set up Windows mail with a
phoney address and fool it like someone explained in an earlier post and use
it just to send links.
P.S. I don't particularly care for the MSN browser because it doesn't have
Tabs, so I alway use IE or Firefox for everything except mail
