MSN emoticons

Hi
whenever i sign onto msn messenger it creates a blank emoticon for 'x'
meaning that whenever i type 'x' it just comes up blank. Then i delete it and
its ok, but then when i sign on again its the same.
Please help!!!! its so annoying

Tools | Emoticons
highlight the emoticon and select the options available

Hi, whenever i go on msn my emotions just show up as letters or symbols, not
actual emotions. For example, a smilie will show up as or a sun will show
up as (#). PLEASE HELP!!
