MSN Messenger 7.5 Technical Questions

I have some questions regarding MSN Messenger 7.5. First, I would be
interested in learning whether there is an option to automatically disable
alerts regarding the Messenger upgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.0. I have
evaluated Windows Live Messenger, but, in my opinion, it is very slow, and
contains many features which are already implemented in MSN Messenger 7.5. I
can disable the alert so that it does not remind me for upgrades for a week,
but I still receive Messenger Desktop Alerts about the Messenger Upgrade
(this is a desktop alert from MSN Messenger, not from Messenger Service).

Secondly, I would be interested in knowing if there is an option to disable
content "tabs". While the "tabs" can be useful for many users, I find them
distracting, and I do not use any of the services featured on the "tabs". I
have investigated Messenger Options, but did not find a special check box or
radio button to disable the "tabs".

Any assistance with these problems would be greatly appreciated. Please post
your reply to the Newsgroup only, and please do not send me any e-mail
messages regarding this problem, as messages from unknown senders will be
deleted immediately. Thank you.

Best regards,
Kit

In Messenger 8 is in Tools\Options\Tabs then check "Hide Tabs". Maybe it's
the same in version 7.

Hi,

Actually it's not, it finally got moved here in 8. In 7.x, it's in the Security category
under "This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs".

Greetings Kit,

There is no way to disable the upgrade dialogs permanently.

The tabs can by disabled by clicking the Tools menu, then Options, then Security category and
checking the "This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs" option.
