Msn Messenger Keeps Disconnecting.

Hi, please can someone help me.
Im running Vista home basic and messenger live 8.1
As soon as I log on to messenger it disconnects and sends me back to the
signing in screen. I do not get an error message.
What is confusing is that my internet connection remains connected at all
times, so it is not my connection.
All other pcs in the house use messenger 8.1 without problem,but they are on
XP.
I have searched internet forums, and although I have found old threads where
people have had this problem I have not found a definitive answer to correct.

Please could someone offer some advice because its driving me crazy.

Try updating the firmware for your router.

Hi Crispy, thanks for your super quick reply.
But my router drivers are up to date.
Do you you have any other suggestions?

Greetings Ellice,

Most likely the problem is Vista's autotuning networking feature. To do so, click on the
Start button, then in the Search box, type in Command Prompt.

Command Prompt will then show up in the results. Next, right click on Command Prompt icon
and select Run as administrator. After confirming that, you'll be presented with a command
prompt. Type in:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Reboot and then hopefully that will resolve the problem.

Additionally, it would be best if you upgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.5, as it contains
many Vista-related fixes:
