OS: XP Home SP3
Messenger: Windows Live Messenger ver 2008 Build 8.5.1302.1018

lately, when i start my computer (and/or MSN Messenger), the MSN icon does
not appear at the taskbar; therefore the program is not ready to be used.

a check using Process Explorer shows that the program is running.

a check using TCP View shows that the program keeps connecting, and
disconnecting from my router (192.168.1.1:2869) every half a second or so, in
an infinite loop.

in order to make the program function again, i need to disconnect the
connection manually via TCP View. upon this manual disconnection, the MSN
icon would appear at the taskbar and the program could be used again.

how do i resolve this problem?
