msnmsgr.exe application error

I installed Windows live messenger, when the installation finished it doesn't
open i get the following message:

The application failed to initialize properly (oxc0000005) click on OK to
terminate the application.

I have uninstalled and re-installed with no changes. I also can't install
back version 7/8 of messenger

I use windows XP sony vaio.

Please help. Thanks

To correct this, go to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the SonicStage
Mastering Studio Audio Filter. If that's not there, try uninstalling any other SonicStage
branded software.

After that, restart and try Messenger again.
