MSRT - October 2006 KB890830 - multiple installs

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - October 2006 (KB890830) has
installed itself now about 10 times in the past 3 days. I have hidden the
update, but is there any other way to stop this?

Has the system been scanned for the presence of "unwanted software"
recently by an up to date antivirus program ? If not, and even if it
*has* been, suggest you read this tutorial -

and then using Internet Explorer, have the system scanned by the
Kaspersky Online Scanner -
