MSXML 4.0 (KB927978) - Do I need it?

I have WU set to notify but not download updates.
Windows Defender updates are regularly offered.
There is no record of KB927978 in WU download history.
Neither is KB925672 (uninstall) in Windows folder (show all files.....),
which is often referred to as well.
I have manually checked for updates but neither of the above has been
offered.
The only recent reference to MSXML is an update for Office 2003, downloaded
11/1/2007 - MSXML5 (KB924424). I'm wondering if this update overrides the
need for the other two?
