For about a week now windows update has been wanting to install the update
listed above. I've allowed it to install via the notiiciation icon and by
going to the updates web site at least 10 times now. The installation is
sucessful but a short while later the icon shows that the same update needs
to be done. Any help?

William,

Which version of Windows and what Service Pack level ? Is KB925672
listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel ?
Check the KB925672.log located in the WINDOWS directory (folder) for
error codes. Or, just post the entire log, if it exists, into your reply
along with the requested information.

Windows XP Pro, SP2.

KB925672.log doesn't exist in my windows directory and that item is not
listed in my add/remove programs when I have show updates turned on. That
seems to suggest that it is silently failing and just "going away". Perhaps
the file that it downloaded is incomplete or corrupted. It never attempts to
download the file again. Is there a way to remove it or get it to download
it again? Other ideas?

If the update silently fails, suggest you attempt to install MSXML 4 SP2
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Save it, do NOT run it. Close the browser and then install it

If it installs, then download and save the update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Close the browser, then install it.

Did that resolve the issue ?
