Every time I go to windows update it shows that

MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978) and (925672)

needs to be updated. Is there a way to correct this so that even after I
install it it won't come back up saying it needs to be installed.

Mark,

The failed installation attempts for KB927978 has most likely created
numerous randomly named folders on the C:\ drive (or, in some cases, the
drive with the most free space). Each one contains a log for the failed
installation. You can delete them *all*.

Open Add/Remove Programs. Is MSXML 4.0 SP2 {KB927978) listed ?
If so, uninstall it and then reboot.
Under Windows XP - Software Updates, is KB925672 listed ?
If so, uninstall it and then reboot.

If at anytime you are prompted that either of those updates are
available, click on the Update notification icon, and UNcheck the box
next to it, then click OK
A window should appear. Check the box next to 'Do not notify me of this
update again'. Click OK.

Now download KB927978 from here and save it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
( KB927978 supercedes KB925672 )

If you've done any printing, suggest you restart the system prior to
installing the update.
Otherwise, close the browser and *any other open programs*.
Now install msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe
Reboot.

Did that get it installed ?

> I just followed all the above, for 925672 and KB927978, it wasn't listed in add/remove programs, did the installation, and STILL shows the pop up to install! Arghhhhhh!
