I am trying to install an "Internet Checkup" provided by by my ISP and when
doing so I get a message "MSXML 3.0 or higher is required" I have XP Pro SP2
and IE 6. Is there a simple way to determind what version of MSXML I have
installed now ? I note in the postings there are numerous versions of MSXPL,
does it matter which version I use and how do I go about updating what I have.

Is this simple enough ?

Determine the Version of MSXML Parser Installed on a Computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278674

Since SP2 is installed, at the least, MSXML 3 is present. If ' Internet
Checkup ' is not detecting the installed XML package, then either it is
poorly written or the installed MSXML parser is damaged.

If that's the case, try running sfc /scannow to see if that replaces
files required by the parser: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
If no joy, download and *save* the latest MSXML 3 parser from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/i...splayLang%3den

Advise you to download the msxml3.msi package and STORE it in the My
Documents folder. After it has installed, do NOT clean up the
WINDOWS\Installer folder or you will not be able to do any Repair
operations for the parser, as is the situation now.

Close the browser and any other open programs when the download
completes. IF any Symantec 'product' is installed, completely and
totally disable it during the installation of MSXML 3.

Try opening the protocols. I believe that should help!
