Windows 2000 pro. Norton Internet Security installed. Automatic Updates will
download and install the MSXML 4.0 security update every night and reboot the
computer. Anyone have any idea why and how to stop it???

Go to Windows Update History, locate the failed update, click on the red
cross "Failed" icon in the Status column, and tell us the 8-digit error code
which appears in a popup window. If a popup does not appear, you will have
to disable any third-party popup-blockers first.

Installation Ready: The following updates are downloaded and ready for
installation. This computer is currently scheduled to install these updates
on Sunday, August 06, 2006 at 3:00 AM:
- Security Update, February 13, 2002 (MSXML 4.0)

There is no red cross-just an information bubble. We reset the updates
schedule to once weekly to minimize the shutdowns. I cannot locate a
window's update history file. Can you lead me?

Go the Windows Update web site. Click "Review your update history".

The history shows green check marks or succeeded for each date--all the same
file
Security Update, February 13, 2002 (MSXML 4.0)

Rose - I've had exactly the same problem on a number of PC's here. I've
worked round this by installing the patch that keeps reoccuring, then,
without rebooting installing msxml 6.0
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en)

It seems to stop the requirement for this patch
