From MS.com I find "(MSXML) 3.0 SP4 release offers a number of security
fixes". Why doesn't Windows Update include MSXML in its scan results?

Windows Update does do that when a security issue is involved.

What version of Windows are you using? When you right-click
".:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml3.dll" and select Properties what does it say
about the file and version you have installed? If your system is at all
current, your version of MSXML3.DLL is beyond SP4 already.
