msxml update

I have downloaded MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security update (925672) but it allways
fails to istall it also stop other installations installing too

I have the same Problem

Download today's update for MSXML 4.0 SP2 as it replaces the one you're
trying to install -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Save it, do NOT run it, close the browser, and then attempt to install
it. If it fails to install, open the KB927978.log located in the WINDOWS
directory (folder) and copy&paste it into your reply, please.

Scratch that suggestion. This update leaves no log file. In order to log
the installation, please see - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927978

msxml4-kb927978-enu.exe /q reboot=reallysuppress /l*v c:\kb927978.log

Download the update from -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...B-6F18FE6921D4

Save it to the Desktop, do NOT run it. Close the browser
Now go to Start > Run > click the Browse button
Click Desktop in the left frame and then click on msxml4-kb927978-enu.exe

Click the Open button

Left click ONCE on the command that appears.
It will now be highlighted in blue.
Left click once after the last (quotation mark) "
Now copy&paste this at the END of the command after first pressing the
Space Bar *one time*

/q reboot=reallysuppress /l*v c:\kb927978.log

The command should look like -

"C:\Documents and
Settings\<UserAccount>\Desktop\msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe" /q
reboot=reallysuppress /l*v c:\kb927978.log

Once again, there is a space after the last " and before the /q
Now click OK
If the update fails to install the KB927978.log will be located at
C:\KB927978.log
Copy&paste the contents of the log into your reply, please.

I also found that update on my C: drive. I opened the text file, was knocked
off our network and now I cannot log back in. Can you tell me what I need to
do.
