How Much Does it Cost?

I am curretly running Vista Home Premium. I would like to upgrade to Vista
Ultimate.

I am confused about the cost, money..dollars, to do this.

I have seen upgrades in retail stores that cost $200+. But I all ready have
Vista Home Premium so $200+ is way too much. I saw an article that talked
about Microsoft discontinuing it's on line upgrade option and when that was
done you would have to upgrade through a retailer for $79.

How much does it cost to upgrade an exsisting installation of Vista Home
Premium to Vista Ultimate?

Thanks,
BobB

I've picked up a dozen various s/w packages on E-bay. You can get some good
deals but have to be very careful. Never been burned.

Thanks for the response.

This clears it up.

But it still seems like a lot to pay for the few additional features.

Thanks again.

What extra features do you need that Vista Ultimate has?

If you or anyone in your family works for an education institution check
with them. The may have available deep discounts for Vista and other
software. It is also true for students.

Mike,

Thanks for the response.

I feature I'm most interested in is receiving faxes.

Thanks again,

And that's included with Business, Enterprise and Ultimate versions,
that's right. But you should be able to find a fax program that will
send and receive faxes from Home Premium. Google for fax programs,
you'll find lots.

Upgrading to Ultimate just for that purpose is *way* overkill and
costs much more than you need to spend. You can get a good third-party
fax program for far less money--probably around $20-30US.

Or better yet, consider buying an inexpensive stand-alone fax machine.
That's what I use. It works fine and I bought mine on sale for $20.
