"N", where "N" represents an arbitrary very large number.

The biggest library I know of is 23 terabytes. I'm not sure of how many
files that's comprised of, but I'm assuming in the millions-of-tracks range.

Hi,

I have a library of 135+ songs in WMP 11 running on Win Xp Pro. I can load
and play the musci in the library just fine, but I do notice some problems
with it. I have just done a fresh install of Win XP. My library is located on
a 4 disc RAID with a capacity of 1.4TB.

After I had loaded the library I noticed the following:

- Cannot choose more than 2 different collumns in the 'Now Playing' list in
th eleft pane.
- Cannot choose more than 4 columns in 'Artists' under 'Library' in the left
pane.
- Most surprisingly, I can also not select 'Show Hidden Files' in the 'View'
tab of the 'Folder Options' menu in windows explorer. Please note that I say
select. I can actually select, I can even apply. But nothing happens. When I
repeat the abovce sequence, it does not show that it is selected. Needless to
say that I can not see my hidden files anymore either.

Now the above is important with such a large library for the reason that I
can only see if the files are actually updated on my HDD by checking if teh
hidden files are there. This is the only indicator I knwo of that shows that
the music is not only updated in your library, but also in teh files. This
needs to be verified in case you want to transfer files to a new location, or
simply want to reload the library because it has become corrupt.

Summary:

WMP 11 does indeed accept a large library, but there is strong indication
that there is negative side effects to this.

Questions:

If someone has any advise on the above, please let me know.

Best regards,

This is in no way related to WMP, so it can't be caused by the large
library. It's most likely a Windows Explorer problem, maybe with the
permissions of a specific registry key.
