Multi Media Hot Keys Running Unfocussed Windows Media Center

O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade
System: HP media Center PC m8532f
Keyboard: HP Multi media #5189 and Logitech Multi media ex110 cordless
Media Center Version: 6.1.7600.16385

Question: Why don't either of my multi-media keyboards advance recorded tv
signals (using next/last (nl) track buttons) when media center (mc) is not in
focus? All the other buttons such as play/pause, +/- volume, mute, stop
function fine with unfocused mc. The nl buttons work only when mc is in
focus?...I have updated drivers though the hp driver no longer installs as it
only works with vista.

Background: I upgraded to 7 from vista (which had latest service packs and
hp hotfixes) yesterday (11/17). Vista had no problem running all buttons when
mc was out of focus.

Upon initial trials of this functionality, the hp keyboard would display
"next/last track" but not do anything. Replacing it with my old logitech I
thought resolved the issue as it would advance video 30 seconds when the next
track button was depressed and mc was not in focus. Today, after a reboot and
windows critical update install neither keyboards nl keys do anything unless
mc is in focus.

Any ideas, any one else with similar problem? I'm going to source my s/w
options wise for alternate players, but mc has been 'a okay' to date.

Thank you for any feedback or commiserations :-)

Did you reinstall the accompanying keyboard software, if any? I know
IntelliType is needed for MS keyboards...
