Granny Erna,

XP Home Edition ? Is it listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel ?
IF yes, then show hidden files, folders, and system files -
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...l62.html#winxp

Navigate to the WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ folder
Open it, then open the SP2QFE folder
*Right* click nwapi32.dll
Choose COPY
Go to the WINDOWS\system32 folder
*Right* click a blank area and choose PASTE
Restart the system

IF the Client Service for NetWare is ever used in the future, suggest
you register the .dll by going to Start > Run > type in

regsvr nwapi32.dll

Click OK. You will receive a confirmation that the file has been
successfully registered.

ALSO, you can safely delete all of the random named folders created on
the C:\ drive (root drive, where WINDOWS is installed to) that contain
the installation logs every time the updated failed to install properly.

I am using XP-Home, KB923980 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs but the
folders and files listed on your message appears. Should I go ahead and
update it as you described or there is an alternate approach.

Did you check the box to " Show updates " when you were looking in
Add/Remove Programs ?

Is there a KB923980 folder in WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ ?
Is there a $NtUninstallKB923980$ in WINDOWS ?

BTW, I neglected to mention that the SP2QFE folder is located in the
KB923980 folder in WINDOWS\$hf_mig$. Sorry about that, it was a lonnng
night.
