While looking through the files on my hard drive, I found a file that I think
is associated with one of the recent Microsoft updates downloaded to my
computer. The filename is tzchange.exe. This same file appears in four
different places on my hard drive, three of which are folders that contain
only this one file. Why is it necessary for Microsoft to store the same file
in four different locations? Can't Windows install the file in just one place
and then remember where it put it? This appears to me to be just another
instance of Microsoft's inefficient programming and lack of concern about
wasting space on their customers' hard drives and causing their customers'
virus scanning programs to consume more time than necessary.
Can anyone tell me why this is necessary?
