multiple issue- missing uninstall options, icon changes...

Hi, this is the second time now that soon after (automatically) installing a
windows update I have lost the functionality of add/remove programs, folder
icons (specifically downloads, music and pictures) have reverted back to the
empty yellow variety and when trying to view either live or recorded vids on
the media center I now have to deal with choppy, blurred picture quality.
First time it happened I figured I'd done something whilst organizing the
start menu, tried all the fixes listed in the various posts on here- changing
registry values (add/remove issue), editing desktop.ini files, deleting
iconcache.db...(folder icon issue) all to no avail so I dumped the system,
reloaded and reinstalled everything and it was perfect for a couple of weeks
then this afternoon whilst browsing the web I realized flash had somehow
become corrupt, went to uninstall and discovered all the present issues.

I haven't edited anything, installed anything, deleted anything apart from
what microsoft automatically updates for windows. Vista was a clean install
on a spanking new system designed specifically for vista so I'm at a complete
loss for what caused this, how to fix it and how to prevent it from happening
again.

Does anyone know if Microsoft is officially working on a fix for this issue
as it is a repeat offender and it's getting a bit old.

I got the same issue, though not due to updates. Vista updates hav
never caused an issue for me (Minus some defender update that killed m
USB *_haha_

But be honest with yourself. Are you 100% certain you did nothing ou
of the ordinary
I mean

A: It's not a legit version of Vista (Known to do that)
B: It's an OEM Install from Dell (Though I love Dell, their OEM DV
does seem to have issue's
C: You did what I did and incidentally uninstalled the Windows Vist
Uninstaller (Do not ask me why in god's name this is possible. I wa
stupid enough to use*_Ccleaner_
uninstall tools, which found a tool named uninstaller. I presumed thi
was a spyware, but no... It was THE uninstaller from Vista

Beats me why MS made the uninstaller uninstallable (Tested and triale
a few time. Definitely uninstallable... Weird!

I am searching for a way to resolve. Will post once found
