multiple repeated install failures

I get updates automatically but a number of them fail to install after many
attempts. Why not? I have legally installed copies of all products.
The following just failed:
KB886903 (.NET)
KB923094 (Word 2003)
KB923097 (Office 2003)
KB919029 (Office 2003)
KB924424 (Office 2003)
KB925257 (Excel 2003)

Note that I do not use Outlook.

Some of these are updates, some are security updates, and I believe there
are others that have not installed. I check the "don't ask me again" box,
but when I go to Windows Update it suggests that they are critical and I
should restore them.

I see that lots of others are having these problems. Here is my latest

I also sent this to Microsoft Update support and much to my amazement they
wrote back, offerred FREE support and said they'd call me! I almost fell
out of my chair. Now let's see if they deliver. You might try the same
thing.

I saw on another forum (Sorry I can not find the link again) that a guy who
had the same problem cured the problem.
He was using a Registry Cleaner called RegCure and when he restored his
registry back to before the first time he ran RegCure, everything was fine.
I use RegCure and I have looked at when I started to have this 0x80070643
problem and low and behold, the problem occurred
on the first office update after I ran RegCure.
This to me point to the fact that these updates arw failing due to a
currpt/missing registry entry.
Is there an easy way to check the registry for corrupt/missing entries
required for office 2003 updates?
Please note that I have posted this to several threads to make sure everyone
is aware of this potential issue.
