Multiple Similtanious Users

I was just reading an old pc mag and there was a device called Sharedware
(http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h98.htm). This aloud another user to
simlitaniously use the computer by providing another graphics, keyboard and
mouse port. Well, with multiple monitor graphics cards, dual core processors
and USB being the norm nowadays I thought this could be done with just
software alone.

Can it?!

Back then it was slated because the device cost a lot plus you had to buy
another monitor/mouse/keyboard and that processors weren't powerful enough.
However, I'm sure you could pick up these devices up for less than £100 (or
free if you wanted old stuff).

Remote assistance was built-in with XP and subsequently Vista.

Huh? I kinda meant 2 people using the same pc to do different things at the
same time. For instance, when I go home both me and my mum can use her
machine at the same time to surf the net.

Or for 2 work colleagues using the same machine... one replying to emails
and the other playing solitaire.

Or my son playing Quake (I'm assuming Crysis is too resource hungry for it
to work) while I was checking the latest on the stock exchange.

All with just one machine.

www.userful.ca You can find software there to accomplish that task. We
have a four head userful station at the local library. Oh - by the way, it
runs RHEL.

That article talked about using this product on a Pentium II with Windows
95/98 and in an ISA slot???

Doubtful it would work on Vista unless they have kept it updated. Have you
tried contacting the manufacturer of this device?

The manufacturer of this device is apparently out of business. Their
homepage is now just a spam bin.
