And DON'T copy the *.vmc file when you copy the virtual machines!
Only copy the vhd, then create a *new* virtual machine using the
virtual machine wizard. Use the same settings as you had for the
original except for the name, but point it to the copied *.vhd file
(incidentally, before you create the new machine rename the copied vhd
file appropriately).
This process will create new unique identifiers so that there will be
no network clash if the guests should be running at the same time.
Also, as soon as you start up the copy you must change the computer
name and SID (assuming you use Windows guests) to idividualize the
copy also on the Windows level.
Finally you must also enter the new product activation key for the
copy.
You need a separate Windows license for each virtual machine!
