Multiple versions of DirectX?

I have Vista Home Premium with DirectX 10 installed. I have now installed a
program which wants the DirectX 9 dll installed. Can both versions of
DirectX co-exist on the same system?

Microsoft's DirectX installer is a pretty intelligent piece of software -
you can run it (or let the game's installer run it if it insists) and it
will only install those pieces that are truly needed in addition to DirectX
10 to add the compatibility that your game needs.

Mansm81 and Richard, Thank you for your input. I have now installed DirectX
9 without any problems.
