I'm using XP SP2 an attempted to upgrade to SP3 today and have been getting
Error Code: 0x80070003. Have tried to get the update from the Windows
website and also going into Control Panel Automatic Updates "Restore updates
that I've previously hidden".

This is a link to an article I found on the Microsoft websit by googling the
error code. The error code I got indicates that part of the update is
missing. The fix is explained on the web page above, but I haven't tried it
yet.

How does your problem relate to the original poster with error code
0x800704DD?

Have a look at:

You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an
update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server
Update Services
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336
When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the
0x80070002 or 0x80070003 error

Error message when you try to download updates from the Microsoft Windows
Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site on a Windows XP-based
computer: "0x80070003"

Which error code? 0x800704DD or 0x80070003?

Not only have you hijacked another's thread, you have posted insufficient
information.

See responses to Jay & SHB
Pick your error code and operating system accordingly.

Mari, your error code is 0x80070005 which is totally different from the
original posted and the hijackers.

For your error (access denied) :

First, make sure that your anti virus software isn't locking the registry
and preventing the installer from modifying the same.

denied" or "Service Pack installation did not complete"
