Is my computer going crazy?

Alright. For the past couple of months my laptop has been alright. Even
though everytime I was going to download something the whole internet
explorer would close on me and I could not use MSN. However, just a few days
ago I noticed that everytime I opened the internet explorer, my yahoo page
would show that little icon next to the address bar a pixel little black
haired man instead of the Y for yahoo. Soon, my folders could not open when I
tell them to, then sometimes I would have to restart my computer so then I
could actually see my desktop items instead of just my wallpaper.

I tried to put some security programs on but I can't even access them
because my folders close all the time. I also tried to defragment my computer
and clean up registry but that still doesn't work. Is there any hope in
fixing this? Or should I just give up and take it to someone to fix this?

Just incase this helps to figure out what is wrong with my computer:
Aspire 9410-2597
Windows Vista Home Premium
