Hi,

Since yesterday I have the following problem:

My contacts can't see that I'm online when I sign in to Windows Live
Messenger...
When I sign in to another version of messenger (e.g.. Web messenger, Windows
Messenger or MSN Messenger on my PDA) they can see that I'm online.
I've tried signing in with Windows Live Messenger on 2 different pc's. Same
result. My contact can't see that I'm online. I also tried Windows Live
Messenger on Windows Vista Beta 2. Still my contacts can't see me! I've have
also tried changing my status to Away, Appear Offline and back again to
Online. Nothing works... I also tried deleting a contact and having that
contact to delete me. Then re-add them, but that doesn't work either... When
I send a message to my contact they receive is just fine. Although there
dialog box sais that I'm offline. When they initiate the message, they are
sending to the offline message functionality en I receive them a little
while later as a message received while I was offline. (However, I really
was online during that time...)

Does anybody know what might be going on? And what I can do to solve it? I
would appreciate the help.

Roland.

Hi Roland,
I have a friend at work who is having the same problem as you. We have tried
uninstalling, and then downloading the latest version, but still cant get it
to work. My installation of Messenger Live is working fine, so I dont think
its a network problem. Is anyone else having these problems?

Cheers,

Dooza

Hi Dooza,

I too am having the same problem. I too have tried signing in with Windows
Live Messenger on 2 different pc's and reloading it again on my pc. The
problem still persists. The funny thing is my Systems Manager logged on in
another city with my ID and it worked fine. everyone could see my online but
in my office it doesn't work on any of the PC's. Is there someone who can
help. Im using version 8 of Live Messerger!

The person in the office who can not be seen has a passport account, not a
hotmail account, but for some reason can not login to any of the Live
services through the websites. Whether or not this is to do with the problem
I dunno, but it would be great to hear what MS have to say about this problem.

I have found that I can communicate with her by using Messenger Live and
sending an off line message, that gets through and we can start chatting.

I'm using a passport account, which also is a hotmail account. Never had
problems with it before. Problems started just yesterday without any
apparent reason.
And I can still logon to www.live.com and www.hotmail.com without problems
with this account...

Hi I have also been having the same problem.

My friend cannot see me if I use my work but can see me if I sign in with my
Hotmail account. I cannot see my friend regardless of which logon I use, but
I still can receive messages to my Hotmail id, share webcam, etc because they
can see me as online. All messages sent by my friend if I am signed in to my
work id appear as offline messages, and we cannot do any webcam or app
sharing.

Anyone know if this has been identified as an issue and is being looked at
yet?

Thanks.
