I have a question regarding the "My Display Picture" function.

I have added a few pictures to show friends and I was wondering where those
pictures were stored.
I lost the original picture and would like to see if I can retreive it from
the MSN Messenger.

Could someone help this please? Many thanks

Greetings,

Yes you can access the picture, but it will be the small, optimized 96x96 PNG Messenger
version.

Assuming you're using Windows Live Messenger 8.0, you can find the folder by typing in your
Passport/Windows Live ID here:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/msngrid.aspx

Then click Start, then Run and enter the %appdata%\... folder specified on the web page.
Click the UserTile folder (assuming the images were display pictures) and you'll be presented
with a bunch of .DAT files. These are the images, just copy them to a separate folder and
rename them to .PNG files.
