My step son went out without asking me and bought two computers with
Vista on them. He wanted me to network them together and sharea a
printer. In the XP world, this would take 5 minutes. In the Vista world,
I spent TWO HOURS to share a printer. Then I only got it to work by
disabeling the entire vista firewall. I must have answer the 'Microsoft
needs your permission' ****ing qustion a hundred times. Give me a break.
If I (as a human) Clicked on Settings, Control pannel, network etc...
How much more 'permission' do they need! Damn! I've told all my
customers I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SPEND, DO NOT BUY VISTA. It is
Not Ready Yet. Vista is to what's coming like ME was to XP. Someday it
will be wonderful, Just not now!

You should have let your step son do the printer sharing.
Probably he could have done it right.
It doesn't take two hours, and you don't need to disable the firewall.

Correct, you shouldn't have to mess with the firewall. But two hours, yep,
that's what it took me as well. Vista and workgroup networking seems to
have taken a big step backwards. I'll wait for my ITS guys to figure out
how well it does or doesn't work on a domain environment.

Buy a Mac. Multi-boot Mac OSX/XPPro/Linux/BeOS/?

Better living through chemistry/compatibility/accessibility/honesty.
