I've a problem little problem with my activesync 4.5
He always tries to do more than he is capable of and doesn't do what he is
supposed to do. For example he tries to communicate with my ppc when it is
not connected and rapimgr.exe consumpes 99% of the cpu time and last of all
he doesn't sync unless it is the first time after reboot.
I've tried to take the hard way and kill the process by task manager &
process explorer (no use) and he hit back when I accidentally killed scvhost
by forcing a computer shutdown. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still
the same.

It seems I'm not the only person having this problem

Do you know any solutions to this? I contacted the local microsoft support
but they redirected me to the ppc manufacturer, and the ppc manufacturer told
me to install 4.2, it is a shame for microsoft for not having an
international support center for wm defices.

I have the exact same problem. rapimgr.exe consumes 50% of CPU all the time
and the only time a sync is successful is first time upon reboot (but still
crawls like hell and way way slower than 4.2). mine is a 838pro btw...

It seems there is no solution except downgrading the activesync and the
people suffering this problem is increasing:

Good news... I've managed to get 4.5 working after I dumped my existing kerio
personal firewall for zoneAlarm. Looks like its a problem with
compatibility...

I'm also using kerio firewall. Then this is definitely a compatibility
problem between kerio and activision. Thank you =)

I had to install Activesync 4.5 for Windows Mobile today. I had Sunbelt Personal Firewall on before no problem with previous version of Activesync. However when I installed Activesync 4.5 it would not sync. After much search I was able to correct the problem. First I had to change a setting on my windows mobile: Settings->Connections->USB to PC and uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality." Also I had to change the following settings in Sunbelt Personal Firewall
1. Allow inbound/outbound connections on the following programs:
wcescomm.exe (ActiveSync Application)
WCESMgr.exe (Activesync Connection Manager)
rapimgr.exe (ActiveSync RAPI Manager)
CEAPPMGR.exe (This one shows up as Application Manager in Sunbelt)

2. Open up TCP/IP port 26675 to inbound/outbound traffic.

After that my ActiveSync 4.5 worked perfectly.
