my "hide extension ..."does not work

hi
i have so bad problem with my vista windows ,when i go to folder option
and uncheck the"hise extension "and press ok,it does not work and i can
not change my type file with rename them,when i back to folder option i
see that the hise extension had checked again! and it is not useful to
uncheck it again and again.
how can i do?is it a bug?

You do NOT want to enable Hide extension of known file types. This is a threat.
If you get a file such as myfile.pdf.exe you may think it is a PDF file and if you
Double-Click it you are actually launching an EXE file and you will get infected!

No, it isn't a bug. Something is wrong on your system. Start by making sure
the computer is virus/malware-free:

hi first thanks for your attention.
i want to unhide my fil.e extension and the"hide extension .."in folder
option does not work as i said. i downloaded a Types software that i
found it in this site it worked but not for .htm files
