And how did you come to that figure?
Did you just Google for a few keywords or a phrase. If so you numbers are
erroneous. The results from Goggle or which ever search engine you used
include the same posts many times over as in many cases including this
newsgroup they are replicated to web based "forums" etc and this one
question may appear dozens or even hundreds of times in the search results.
Also dependent on your choice of keywords or search phrase most search
engines will return hits with a selection of the words use not necessarily
in the order asked for or even in context.
So ultimately I seriously doubt the validity of your statement or the
evidence you are basing it on.
Come back when you have some accurate figures or evidence to backup your
statement, or better yet , don't come back at all unless you are asking a
question or providing an answer - which after all is the purpose of this
newsgroup.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=the+sky+is+falling
almost 4,000,000 hits. Are we to conclude that the sky is indeed falling?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...at&btnG=Search
over 40,000,000 so it must be true.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...s+to+shut+down
332,000

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...s+to+shut+down
604,000 must be a real POS compared to Vista

You need to do some studying on statistical analysis :-)

Just did a google search for "vista is great",

15,100,000 listings!!!!!

Must be true then!

BTW, I never had any trouble with Vista on my 4 year old machine.

paul.casey,

I just went to Live Search and typed "Paul Casey knows nothing" and it
returned 1,440,000 results. I can only assume it must be true.
I also tried "Is Paul Casey mentally unstable?" and it returned 24,200
results. I can only assume it must be true. I refuse to use anything
"Google" so I don't know what results it would return; probably a higher
number than Live Search.
I then typed "Does Paul Casey lack the intelligence to use Vista?" and
it returned 32,500 results. I can only assume it must be true.
Then, in fairness, I substituted my name for your name and ran the same
searches. The results, in order of the above, are
1,090,000---6,070---31,600.
So, what do all these results mean? Absolutely nothing. However, if you
wish to flaunt a positive, proven statistic about Linux you should have said
"Why does Linux have 90% of the server market?"
The 1% of market share for Desktops as it applies to Linux is a fair,
proven figure. The figure does not come from Microsoft. Rather, the figure
comes from viable statistics quoted by many non-Microsoft sources.
The question remains; why do people choose to use Windows, an operating
system that must be paid for instead of Linux, an operating system that is a
free product? The answer is obvious. You get what you pay for.

You didn't do 3,500,000 queries because each query would return a result.
You did one query that returned 3,500,000 results. I think it was " What an
Idiot Paul is"

Just FYI
