I installed SP@ on two machines with just the annoyance
of it telling me I needed a Firewall and it didn't know I
had Virus protection.
On third machine it has slowed to a snails pace, I did
some editing of the startup with a third party program to
drop some of the multiple garbage that windows holds
there.
Now at least it will startbut locks up for minutes at a
time, Windows task manager shows System idle at 98-99%
while this is happening.

I NEED HELP!!!!!

You can stop most of the services installed or activated
by Windows Security Center. It is your choice if you know
about your AV, Firewall and the likes. Windows won't stop
to work.

Have already done that(WSC), was concerned that could be
part of the problem: did virus scans adaware and spybot
with no resulting info.

Can't get get anything done on that machine, this one
works great...

It is not only WSC but AU and other services. See if you
really need them.

Anyway, I admit it happened to my pc too but after i
changed somethings it is quite the same. If you say you
can't have anything done that must be something else.

Get RegCleaner and check.

That's not because of SP2. I am not on the side of SP2
but it seems you have another problems in that pc beyond
SP2.

Hi

If this is a Dell Inspiron 1150 or 2650, you might get a slow
running system after installing SP2, take a look at this thread
for more on this:
