My music has all disappeared from WMP..

It seems to have happened after I downloaded a Windows Live Messenger
update...I opened WMP and the library was empty. I've clicked >File and >Add
to Library but it doesn't find anything and it doesn't seem to retain the
info when I select >My folders and those of others that I can access > My
Music. All my music is still in my >My Music folder... I can add songs to
playlist from their folder but they don't stay in the library. What the hell
is going on!!

Info: It's version 11.0.5721.5268
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3

Add specific files and click automaticaly update media information
example: you have - C:/win/my music/ -> after it searches for further
folders with files
It should be - C:/win/my music/artist/ -> the 'artist'
folder listed holds the actual files so that WMP does not have to look

WMP should do this automatically

so i suggest if the folder adding does not work
reinstall WMP

This sounds like a corrupted library. Follow the instructions at
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary to rebuild it. Note that
rebuilding the library will make you lose all play counts, and possibly
ratings too.
