I've googled this issue and tryed all the solutions I could fin
including a regedit key which did nothing

I've had my pictures and music folder paths located on drive D now fo
a long time with no problems, but a few days ago the links from th
start menu just stoped working? nothing happens when I click on them

I went into regedit and re-added the location file paths to bot
folders, this had no effect so I tryed moving both folders back to driv
C. I added the new folder paths to the reg again and nothing. I als
tryed a regedit key file I downloaded to restore the original file path
with no joy

Both music and pictures bottons show up in the start menu but not i
the start menu properties so I can't even remove them from the menu
I'm all out of ideas and google gives me nothing new to try which
haven't already. Has anyone else got any ideas or a solution out there
I'd be grateful for yout time thanx

Hello GreenEggsAndHam, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I'm not sure which method you have tried, but double check to make sure
that the default location is listed in the registry for each of these
folders. Option Two in this tutorial will help show you how to.

If this is what you have already tried, then you should try a System
Restore using a restore point dated before this problem.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I tryed the restore shell folder commands ie shell:My Music in th
search bar and it returns no search results back
I located the folders in regedit which aready had the right file path
but I re-typed them in again anyway? the folder file paths for music an
pictures are all as they should be. It lacks logic to me it has th
correct address or path but the links still dead. Thanx for the repl
and the link to the guide

It seems like the folders do not exist, at least on the start menu bu
there there on the start menu and still on drive d with the correc
vista icons
when i click on properties there are no options and they don't appea
in start menu properties either so i can't remove them. They won't eve
delete

I disabled system restore a long time ago 1 i make images of window
every other week instead

Ok,

As a test, create another administrator account to see if they work fin
in it. If they do, then you can use the new account and just delete the
old one from within the new one. When deleting the old account, be sure
to select the *Keep Files* option to have a copy of the contents of the
old account's user folders placed into a folder on the desktop of the
new account.
