My Recycle Bin is Broken

I am running Vista Home Premium.
When I delete files (send to recycle bin) they are immediately deleted. I
checked the bin’s properties and the “remove Files immediately” button is not
selected.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this so my files stay in the Recycle
Bin until I want to permanently delete them? Thanks

The recyle bin has a limit in the amount of space it can use. When you
delete files carefully read the confirm message to see if the file is being
permanently deleted.

Hello RickM,
To elaborate what Smithsonian had said, if I may, please check the
following : --
1. Open recycle bin properties, find out what is the max. size setting
for your recycle bin.
2. Open the recycle bin folder. Find out how many items are in the bin
and the total size ( MB ) of the items. You may be over the limit.
If that is not the cause of the problem, delete the bin and create a
new one.
If you don't know how to, please post the question.

The message says "Are you sure you want to move this file to the recycle bin?"

The message says "Are you sure you want to move this file to the recycle bin?"
I tried a few files no bigger than 16K and they are deleted as soon as I
click "yes". The max size of the bin is 326GB

None of the files are in the bin.

When you open your recycle bin, does it show the amount of spaced used? I
mean if it says anything other than 0kb

Hello Rick

I agree with t-4-2's post. It seems like your storage space is set t
low and the Recycle Bin is deleting them since it cannot store the
since it is out of storage space.
