No it WAS not the Windows Update Icon. It WAS a circular arrow rotating
clockwise. When I put the cursor on it a message window said Downloading. It
would not respond to a left or right click. The task manager did not show any
application running. Disconecting from the internet, (unpluging the telephone
line) did not stop it. I usually hibernate and remove power when I leave my
system and it was there when I returned. It went away after a shut down,
(which I just did). I don't have the problem any longer but still don't know
what the system was doing.
