my windows isn't showing me my pictures

in windows help and support i can't see the pictures or logos.all i see is a
blank square with a red "X" on with a description of the use of that logo.
also my windows sidebar gadgets seem to have that same problem...for example
the "notes" have these little squares where there used to be arrows or other
logos...
I really don't think I did something to get it like that...so please help...

Jamtam - Here are some things to try.

Icons in Help are missing - This happens if the "Content Type" setting
for .PNG file types is broken. Download a REG file from Daniel Martin's
site here - http://winvista.mvps.org/Ficheros/PNG.reg - Download and
save it to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge.

Pages in Windows Vista Help and Support are not displayed correctly -
